We are modelled on a small European Albergo. Many of our facilities are communal, including the morning breakfast setting. Rooms are individually designed. It needs to be chosen carefully in order to ensure it meets your desire. The two-person bath in the Swamp room, with candles and foams, is reputed to be the biggest bath south of Auckland, ideal after that long day caving. Our breakfast options are varied and highly praised. Our rooms are small. Our ensuites ( apart from the swamp room with its bath for two) are tiny. Not as small as the bathroom we had in Italy where you had to climb over the bidet to get to the shower, but close. Our floors are native wood and the walls are not as well insulated as we would like; noise will travel if other guests are inconsiderate. Our rooms do not have tvs, fridges, chairs or a table; These are all in the guest lounge. We do have good wi-fi and facilities in our lounge, chairs on the deck and a swamp kauri outdoor table for discussion over a few beers. Being in the countryside brings peace and quiet. However being just 1 km from the Waitomo Cave, and the Waitomo zipline, 600 metres away from the local pub, 500 metres from the Information Centre 400 metres from the General Store and 300 metres away from the highly regarded Huhu restaurant, and Waitomo Adventures, we are close to many activities.
